Testimonials

Alaska Inside Passage

“Excellent team from the top down. It took everyone’s efforts to make the cruise enjoyable. My commendations and thanks to all. All of you are the reason I can gleefully and confidently make recommendations repeatedly to anyone I think would be interested in cruising with you.”

Rebecca E. - Fort Wayne, IN

Alaskan Explorer

“Enjoyed the spectacular scenery. Our Captain did an excellent job of slowing the ship and turning it around so that everyone could see the wildlife and glaciers up close and personal! All of the stops were great, especially Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm. Best cruise ever out of 7.”

Ann Marie A. - Douglasville, PA

Southeast Alaska

“I loved Alaska itself and cruising Glacier Bay, seeing whales and other wildlife and its sheer abundance. The co*cktail service was top notch. I only drink top shelf spirits and you provided only the best and seldom ran out. The personal service provided by American Cruise Lines is second to none. The small ship and group tours are the only way to go.”

Jeanette S. - Asbury, NJ

Alaskan Explorer

“The scenery was absolutely stunning, and the excursions were fantastic ! The ability to walk through various towns, meet locals, and have a beer in a local pub was great.”

Greg G. - Southington, CT

Southeast Alaska

“The beauty of Alaska was a stunning backdrop to any and all aspects of our cruise. I enjoyed the fact that we weren't overcrowded and, therefore, able to move around easily. The overall courtesy and attitudes of the entire staff was a true highlight as well. Bravo! Without exception, each and every staff member (regardless of their responsibilities) always offered or returned a ‘Good morning’.”

Richard D. - Bloomington, IN

Southeast Alaska

“The ship was of a great size both for accommodations and for being able to get into tight fjords. Seeing all of the nature far exceeded any expectations we had. All of the staff couldn't have been nicer. We found this cruise to be the best way to see the beauty of Alaska.”

Grace V. - Carlsbad, CA

Alaska Cruises FAQ

What should I pack for an Alaskan cruise?

When visiting Alaska in the summer, the name of the game is layers. Traveling between mid-May and mid-September means you can enjoy temperatures ranging from 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, though temperatures are generally in the mid-60s, and can change in minutes.

In the early morning and into the evenings you may experience cooler weather. A windbreaker, preferably waterproof, is ideal for time spent on the sun deck whale watching or sailing along magnificent glaciers and fjords. Comfortable shoes are a must for daily excursions. Don’t forget to pack your binoculars as well for up-close viewing of wildlife.

When is the best time to cruise Alaska?

Summer in Alaska runs from mid-May through mid-September and is the ideal time for cruising. Sunlight is at its longest during these months and it is also the driest and warmest time to visit. It’s also a great time to admire nature in full bloom and be inspired by the native wildlife.

Do I need a passport when traveling to Alaska?

If you are planning to venture into Canada for excursions, perhaps when you are in Skagway, you will need your passport, otherwise you will not require a passport for itineraries that stay within the US.

What wildlife will we see on our Alaska cruise?

Alaska cruise guests can expect to see harbor seals, humpback whales, and salmon feeding in the areas’ coastal waters, rivers, and streams. Moose, wolves, and black bears can be spotted roaming freely along the shore.

Alaska is also home to the brown bear, the largest carnivorous land mammal in the world, as well as the blue whale, the world’s largest mammal.

Alaska is a delight for bird watchers, boasting 521 species of birds including the largest population of bald eagles. Other wildlife in the region include caribou, moose, Dall sheep, and wolves.
