You can only open and edit INDD files with Adobe InDesign and other compatible programs in the Creative Cloud suite. Open InDesign, select File > Open, then choose your document.
Converting a PDF to a native InDesign file requires a plug-in like PDF2ID. That's because InDesign can't convert a PDF to an editable file (it can only place the PDF as a static object as explained above).
PDF/X-1a files contain extra operators that define the bleed and trim area. Either the ArtBox or the TrimBox define the extent of the printable area. If the file is to be printed with bleed, a BleedBox must be defined. It must be larger than the TrimBox/ArtBox, but smaller than the MediaBox.
If the error occurs when you print or export a new document, the original document's print or export settings could be invalid, an object or font used in the document could be damaged, or the structure of the document could be damaged.
Example: If you place a 600 dpi image without scaling, it consumes a large amount of available memory on your system. So, the usual practice is to scale down a 600 dpi image to 50% for effective resolution and export. Such PDFs fail during export because of the downsampling of the images.
Go to File pull down menu and select “Adobe PDF Presets” to open the Export palette in InDesign. An additional side menu will open, select “High Quality Print” from the menu. A window with the Export palette will open.
