Energetic win: it's only Tuesday and I found out my Sharing Opps groups and newsletters have gotten 5 people new jobs in the media industry this week. Totally free. I don't ask for ANYTHING in return except for passing on a little good karma. Why? Because years ago I heard someone older and wiser say that goodness only exists when you build a home for it. I didn't see enough loving homes on Media Street, so I went to work building 'em, and I'm so glad I did.If you're in need of a job on the media, editing, content production, PR or marketing sides and I can help, don't be shy. If you have jobs to fill and are looking for great candidates, I'll do my best to point winners in your direction.Just do something nice for the next person.#work #people #media #editingjobs #pr #publicrelations

I don't recall seeing anyone here in travel PR but if you are, and you're seeking a job that's NYC-based (It's a hybrid role) this sounds to me like a cool gig: Good luck!

I’m looking for either freelance or staff (I hate the “full-time” contrast cause freelancing is full time!) writing and/or editing work in travel and/or the restaurant business. Thank you so much for your help, and please let me know how I might pay it forward!

Bryce Gruber I am a master storyteller, meticulous editor and proven mentor in journalism and corporate communications. I am looking for a role in the Jacksonville, Florida area or remote. I would appreciate any leads. I am doing freelance work for companies, universities, nonprofits and health care, but am open to other areas, as well, particularly legal affairs and education (beyond the universities I am working with) and profiles. Thanks!

Some very exciting personal news: by the end of this month, I'll be following a longtime dream of mine—consulting for publishers and brands to help them scale digital revenue. The bittersweet part: I will no longer be working fulltime at SJC. In the year and half I've been here, I built and grew commerce content across the portfolio of brands including Today's Parent, Chatelaine and FASHION to a multi-million dollar department with some articles producing six-figure commissions on an annualized basis.I'll miss working with some of the best, brightest and kindest. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to work together, and you can always stay up to date on e-commerce and affiliate marketing trends via my weekly Substack.

Every time I head up to Toronto to SJC headquarters I’m reminded of how lucky I am to work with the nicest people in media.I could write an entire book on the idea of Calm Culture, an idea and lifestyle our northern neighbors seem to engage in nonstop. The main takeaways are:-Don’t take yourself seriously (just your work, and only during business hours)-It’s free to be friendly to the person in the cube/office next to you. You can afford it.-Whatever feels crappy can apparently be fixed by saying sorry, playing hockey and/or sipping Tim Horton’s coffee.

I got a Passover food pitch today from an affiliate agency promoting “Levantine lamb with a side of yogurt sauce” and “bagels!” This, my friends, is why PR agencies will forever do things better. Don’t ever let a brand say an affiliate agency can replace good, thoughtful PR.

We ran over 1,000 pieces of commerce content between Today's Parent, FASHION Magazine and Chatelaine in the last few months and the results have been *very* exciting (building a commerce department from the ground up always is)! Here are some key takeaways:- US shoppers prioritize overall value, customer service, and price point.- Canadian audiences don't mind spending more, but they look for items built to last—a quality vs quantity mindset. - DTC retailers have enormous room to grow in funnel improvement. It's surprising that this isn't a bigger conversation across the board.- Content is consumed differently among varying age groups, each with preferred basket sizes and most trusted retailers.- REAL, human-created content is still king. This might be a tough pill to swallow for publishers banking on robot words, but should be welcome news for writers and editors. Hang in there, it’ll all shake out for the best sooner rather than later!I’m eager to see what the next 12 months has in store and grateful for the lovely editors, audience teams and freelancers I get to work with each day 🚀

I had the honor of lecturing Florida Atlantic University communications students this morning on the growth potential of the affiliate marketing industry. FAU may be the only school in the states even *starting* to tackle the topic in an effort to open more media job opportunities (and internships!) to students at a particularly challenging time in the industry. A hearty thank you to Scott Wolfson and Carol Bishop Mills for giving me the opportunity! Go owls 🦉
