GUIDE: How to replace side mirror on VF series (2024)

Sorry if this is formatted poorly, I have to do everything on mobile at the moment.

I will first start by posting the relevent pages of the owners manual that relates to this procedure then outline the steps with photos. All up this took me an hour, but I screwed around a bit so I think you could get that down to 30 mins if you tried.

You'll need the following tools:
Philips head screw driver
Torx head key set
Socket set
Butter knife

Step 1: Remove the covers behind the door handle and in the passenger arm rest to reveal torx screw and bolt

Step 2: Unscrew torx screw in armrest and remove accessory switch module. To do this simply pull the rear side upwards to unclip the back and use your butter knife to slide in the front and lever upwards. Disconnect both electrical connectors. This reveals two bolts.

Step 3: Unscrew the two bolts you have revealed in the above step, as well as the bolt in the door handle and two philips head screws under the door trim

Step 4: Unclip door trim from plastic connectors by applying a small amount of force to the bottom corner and working your way around the frame. Once fully unclipped you will need to lift door trim up and away to unclip it from the metal connectors near the window. You can leave door trim attached to locking mechanism as you will have plenty of room to access your mirror.

Step 5: Remove plastic cover from inside of mirror, revealing two torx screws and a bolt

Step 6: Peel back weather guard to reveal yet another torx screw. Unclip electric connector and unscrew all three torx screws and the bolt. This will remove your mirror. Unfortunatly I cannot post a photo of this because there is a limit of 10 photos per post. I will post it in the comment section below.

Step 7: Reverse what you have done above to connect your mirror and reattach your door trim and accessories console.

Also didn’t notice that the Series 1 puddle lights were standard incandescent globes. I’m shocked Holden bothered to change them to LEDs!

In terms of light quality and longevity, why would Holden not upgrade the Puddle light globes?

Because it sounds like such a thing they wouldn’t do because of cost cutting! Think about the removal of CD player, the rear seat cup holders, the single horn. To have actually done something that was an improvement and only applicable to the Calais and Caprice is... interesting!

How many plastic clips do you need to replace to reinstall the door trim panel?

None. The door trim clipped back on without an issue.

It appears that the GM accountant's are also helping to write the repair procedures...

Agreed. I removed both front door trims and reinstaled without needing new clips...
