The longest sustained note on a wind or brass instrument is 13 min 26.95 sec and was achieved by Álvaro Rúa Manso (Spain) in Verín, Ourense, on 3 August 2023.

Álvaro decided to attempt for this record to ''highlight the instrument that I have been playing since I was very young, for more than 25 years. It is a great pride for me to be able to achieve it with the Galician bagpipe.''
