The owls, both with minor injuries, were likely attracted to the chimney, mistaking it for a cozy hollow tree. Wildlife Aid, a local animal charity, stepped in to rescue these feathered friends, calling it an "unexpected rescue" and a "huge surprise" for all involved.
One owl, the male, was able to fly around, but his companion, the female, had her talons stuck in the curtain material, unable to move. Yet, the male remained by her side, a true testament to their bond.
"Both owls were brought into our care, monitored closely, and kept together in an aviary," said a Wildlife Aid spokesperson. "They were treated for their injuries, which, thankfully, weren't major, and they made a full recovery in just over a week."

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) revealed that tawny owls, despite being the most common owls in the UK, have experienced a decline of more than 40% between 1995 and 2023. This species is now on the amber list of Birds of Conservation Concern.
"Because they only come out at night, they're tricky to study, and scientists don't yet know the reasons for their decline," an RSPB spokesperson explained. "Habitat loss and a lack of prey might be part of the problem."
