Rajah Caruth’s 2025 campaign has been a rollercoaster of highs and crushing lows. Two DNFs to start the year nearly derailed his season before it began, but the 23-year-oldrefused to let early struggles define him.
Caruth kicked off the 2024-25 season with two back-to-back DNFs, followed by a streak of top-10 finishes in seven out of his next 10 races. This also included taking the chequered flag at Nashville. Although this was enough to get him the playoff berth,Caruth had a rough end to his regular season later on.
First, his run was marred by a brake issue at Watkins Glen, and then he could only manage a P19 finish in the regular season finale at Richmond. Thanks to this, he started the round of 10 in the eighth position, being just two points to the good. What’s bummed him out further is that his playoff run so far has been on the same note. Although he’s entering the eliminator above the cutoff line, the points cushion isn’t significant. Yet, the 23-year-oldis staying positive.
Rajah Caruth Stays Optimistic for the Upcoming New Hampshire Race
If you recall, Caruth, after the regular season ended, was pumped for the playoffs, not just for being there the second time but for the kind of track lineup it kicked off with. First up was Darlington, where Caruth was probably looking to repeat his 2023 performance, where he scored a P6. However, this year, it was a 17th-place finish for him.
While P17 is decent, he was hoping for a stronger start to the playoffs. Still, putting that behind him, he headed for the Bristol Motor Speedway race, beaming confidently. Caruth hadn’t finished outside the top 10 here since 2023. Even in this year’s spring race, he got a P9.But the second playoff race broke his streak as he could only manage a P15 finish this time.
These runs put Caruth in a bit of a fix. The tracks that were supposed to be his strongholds did not treat him well this time around. Speaking on this after the Bristol race, he said, “I feel like I’ve run well here, the last three years, and just wasn’t good enough tonight. So I’m surprised by that. Two races in a row that I feel really comfortable at, and they just dismissed it. So I don’t know if there’s something I need to be doing better or whatnot.”
However, after Caruth’s Bristol race, he’s remained exactly where he started the playoffs, in the eighth position, just above the cutline. Caruth would be hoping that his 14-point advantage over Jake Garciawould be enough to put him in the round of eight.
Next up, the Truck Series is headed to New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and Caruth is optimistic about his chances there.
“It’ll be cool to go to that racetrack have a little bit of experience there. But man, we got fortunate these guys having issues, we hate to rely on them, but excited for an opportunity next week to run well. Run better than we have in the first two races. Definitely looking for some better speed for sure,” he added.
One thing is certain: things are about to get intense in New Hampshire. Garcia (-14) and Chandler Smith (-24) would be looking to get out of the elimination zone. Meanwhile, above the cutline, currently in P5, Grant Efinger only has a +29 points cushion. Same as Tyler Ankrum in P6.
Following them, Kayden Honeycutt is only 18 points to the good, with Caruth wrapping up the top eight with 14 points.So, with the competition being so tight, no driver would be counting themselves out heading into New Hampshire. Well, only time will tell who makes it to the round of eight and who doesn’t.
