A chilling warning has been issued by Norway's top military official, General Eirik Kristoffersen, who suggests that Russia could invade Norway to safeguard its nuclear assets in the far north. This statement, made in an exclusive interview with The Guardian, has sparked concerns and raised questions about the future of European security.
Kristoffersen emphasizes that while Russia may not have the same conquest goals in Norway as it does in Ukraine, the proximity of Russia's nuclear arsenal on the Kola peninsula to the Norwegian border cannot be ignored. He believes that Russia's nuclear capabilities, including submarines, missiles, and aircraft, could be a crucial factor in a potential conflict with NATO.
"We must consider all possibilities, including a land grab by Russia to protect its nuclear assets. It's a scenario we plan for, given the strategic importance of these capabilities," Kristoffersen explains.

When asked about Trump's claims of Russian and Chinese military interests in Greenland, Kristoffersen finds these assertions "very strange." He emphasizes that Norway's intelligence service has not detected any such activities in the Arctic, suggesting that Trump's statements may be exaggerated or misinformed.
"It's important to distinguish between fact and fiction. Our intelligence shows a different picture," he says.
