Tim Smith's Climax Moonshine was launched in 2013 and is the "legit" operation of Tim Smith, star of the Moonshiners TV series on Discovery Channel.
The flagship of Original Recipe Climax Moonshine is distilled from a blend of corn, rye and barley malt that is pot-distilled to a 90-proof spirit. Since establishment, the portfolio has expanded to include Rye Whiskey as well as Bourbon.
Other offerings include the Fire No. 32, a cinnamon-flavored version released in tribute to Fire Fighters across the US – Smith has served as a volunteer fire chief in Climax, Virginia.
Products are made at Belmont Farm Distillery in Culpeper, Virginia and Asheville Distillery in North Carolina, and were also previously distilled at Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky.
