AKRON, Ohio — The I PROMISE School in Akron will be getting a big financial boost from rapper Drake.
“Myself and Eddie from Stake, we’re going to dedicate $1 million to the I PROMISE School, and I’m going to come drop it off myself before the school year is over,” Drake is seen telling LeBron James in an Instagram video that was posted Wednesday night.
James had a big reaction to Drake’s donation offer.
“Wow. Oh, man I appreciate it," James said while giving Drake a hug. "My kids are going to crazy for that. Thanks, brother.”

The LeBron James Family Foundation sent 3News the following statement after learning of Drake's pledge to give $1 million: “Drake is a special friend of our family and we’re working closely with his team to finalize details of this donation to the LeBron James Family Foundation.”

Earlier in the Instagram video, Drake said his donation comes after he had “an incredible night” with his biggest hit ever while playing roulette on Stake.
“Any time I get blessed like that I always think it’s good karma that needs to be transferred," Drake said. "I play for fun and I play in the hopes that I can spread love always.”
The I PROMISE School, which opened in 2018, is part of the Akron Public School District.
