The Elizabeth Finn Fund (EFF) provides one-off and recurring grants for people who are British or Irish and have a professional or similar background or connection and have recently faced a life changing event resulting in reduced income or additional costs.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for help from the Elizabeth Finn Fund, you must meet all of the following qualifying rules (eligibility criteria):

- Be on a low income and in receipt of or have applied for the benefits you are entitled to
- Have worked in one of ourqualifying-occupations-for-help-from-EFF-(PDF-file-size:-240kb)or have a partner (or deceased partner) who has done so. In most cases, these are positions where the job requires a degree, some level of responsibility or NVQ4 or above. We also help people who have run their own business with employed staff or have earned a living from the arts
- Have British or Irish nationality or you live in the UK or Ireland for at least half of the year.
- Have recently faced a life changing event resulting in reduced income or additional costs.
Please carefully read the Elizabeth Finn list of criteria and the list of qualifying occupations (in Eligibility) before you apply for help. Please only apply if you believe you fit all the criteria.
As part of the application process, we will ask you for a range of documents as evidence of your occupation and situation. This includes bank statements.
Application process
The application process involves two stages:
- Stage 1: We check that you meet our qualifying rules (eligibility criteria) for the fund and ask for documentary evidence of occupation.
- Stage 2: If you do meet our qualifying rules, you will be invited to make a full application to the Elizabeth Finn Fund. We will now ask you provide full details about you, your spouse/partner (if you have one) and your situation. We will also request the evidence we require, including bank statements.
Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee a grant will be awarded. All grants are discretionary.
Please note: EFF receives a large number of enquiries which take some time to process. All enquiries do receive a reply, whether we can help or not, but we may take some time to process enquiries and respond.
