Approximately 18 million people benefit from permanent grants distributed by the South African government. These grants are distributed to individuals during the first few days of every new month.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will begin distributing the permanent grants on Monday 3 October 2022 starting with Older persons grant.
Sassa begins distributing permanent grants from the second day of every new month. However, if the second day of a month falls on a weekend or public holiday, grants will be distributed on the following working day.
This is the case for October 2022 where the second day occurs on a weekend. The grants will be distributed from Monday 3 October which is the next working day of the month.
Here Are The Sassa Payment Dates For October 2022
- Older Persons Grant - Monday 3 October
- Disability Grant - Tuesday 4 October
- Children's Grants - Wednesday 5 October
It's important to note that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant does not have a fixed payment date. Beneficiaries of the SRD grant can view their payment dates on the SRD grant website.
